In this lesson we are going to look at the component pieces that make up a
course in the DETAC LMS as well as what you need to produce and deliver to DETAC in order to make
your course.

The primary building block of a course is what’s called a topic, or sometimes a module. (I’m going to
refer to them here as modules.) There is nothing complicated about a module. It’s just a webpage with
an embedded video and a related block of text. The user watches the video, reads the text, then clicks
the button to mark the module as completed and advance to the next module.

Modules should be byte-sized, topical pieces – I’ll have more to say on how to break up your courses
into modules in lesson IV. But how we group a collection of modules into a lesson is what we will discuss
in the next module. Click the “Next” button to proceed to the module on Lessons.
