DETAC in collaboration with our partners from the National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) jointly recognized the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark Olmstead decision. Protection and Advocacy entities and other AoD grantees play a substantial role in supporting systems change and advancing community integration of people with disabilities by addressing subminimum wages under section 14c of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). This webinar introduced a new report, The National 14c Landscape, Implications and Recommendations to Elevate Competitive Integrated Employment. NDRN highlighted the findings of the report including gaps, successes, challenges, and recommendations for systems change efforts to effectively phase out sheltered workshops and subminimum wages. And we jointly highlighted the transformative efforts to increase competitive, integrated employment outcomes for people with disabilities.
