Dr. Bouraoui has a particular interest in employment for persons with developmental disabilities.  She has been a primary advocate for Employment First in Michigan since 2014, when the Michigan DD network partners launched a focused initiative on this movement. She was the State lead from 2015-2020 of the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) Employment First State Leadership Mentoring Program (EFSLMP) a federal project that provides technical assistance to states to implement ‘Employment First’ policies and practices to increase competitive, integrated employment for persons with disabilities.   She holds a Master’s degree in Public Health, and a Doctorate in Public Health Policy, both from the University of Michigan. Dr. Bouraoui has served as the Deputy Director for the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council since 2007.  Prior to her current position, Dr. Bouraoui served over 15 years working at the city, county, and state level in the planning and delivery of maternal, infant, and child health services.
